About

I have been living in Bali for many years, and have experienced so much in my time here, I thought it was time to start sharing what I have learned. The ancient culture and traditions followed here can serve a great example of the way things could be. Bali is in a confused state right now, trying to  grow, while still trying to cling on to their traditions. I feel carried along in the journey. Please join me as I attempt to make some sense of it all.

I arrived here as an idealistic 24 year old, looking for a place where I could live the lifestyle I craved. I fell in love in a tiny fishing village on the east coast of Bali, and started to build a life here. My husband and I set up a tattoo studio together, he was the artist, and I was the promoter. He is still tattooing, I now work in a silver jewelry company. We have 3 wonderful children, and I feel Bali is my home.

I will be commenting on the latest news items, as well as giving some insight in to the traditions and cultures. There will be recipes of traditional Balinese food and lots more besides!

Feel free to leave a comment of what you would like to know about Bali, and I will do my best to give you what you want.

I am also happy to answer any questions you may have. So lets get talking!

  2. Just got your reply…thank you. And of course, I had to go check out your blog. All about Bali! I spent about 6 weeks there, first big stop on a 10 month journey, some 20 years ago ….my life before kids and responsibilities. It is one of the places on the top of the list to visit again!

  3. Thanks for the follow. We can’t wait to visit Bali although the are so many less tourists areas of SE Asia that we might not make it there for awhile. However, when we do we’d love to meet and have an expert local show us around

  4. It seems like Bali is rediscovering itself. At least from far. I’ve traveled to Bali approx 15 years ago. It’s truly amazing. Thank you for following my blog. I am looking forward to discover more of you, your blog and your Bali in the future.

  7. It is nice to “meet” you. I have been to Bali and loved it but interestingly, my daughter hasn’t and is obsessed with going. Since we are moving to Egypt in August, it will now be on our list for one of our holidays. She is beginning to travel like me and so far her top 3 are Cambodia, Bali and India. I look forward to reading more and re-familiarizing myself with your special home. Cheryl

  9. What an interesting About page. As a geographer and travel enthusiast, I love most blogs about far away places, or simply just travel. Your theme, comparing Britain and Bali, promises to be fascinating and I’d love to ride along on the journey with you. I’ve never been to Bali, so I’m looking forward to learning about it.

  10. Hello! So fun to stumble across your blog. 🙂 Thank you for the pictures and words you share. I have plans to visit Ubud, Bali from March 7- April 10 this year.
That is coming up …. SOON! I would love to chat with you as just this past week there has been a concern that is having me consider canceling this trip , but I really don’t want to. Would we be able to chat via email? Or even Whatsapp, Skype or Zoom? Thank you! I need to make a decision soon so if I DO go, I can get started on my visa.

    Thank you so much,
    Lydia
